Honouring exporters

THE Member for Kallangur Ken Hayward will represent the Premier Peter Beattie to present the awards in the 2005 Moreton Bay Export Awards at the Morayfield Community Centre this Saturday night.

Success in today’s competitive export market takes commitment, tenacity, innovation and courage. But as the saying goes, fortune favours the brave. That’s why the Queensland Government hosts the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards throughout Queensland each year – to recognise and congratulate those Queensland exporters who bravely stood up and met the export challenge.

Export growth has continued throughout 2004/2005 with recent figures showing the export of Queensland goods experiencing a 30% increase compared to the 2003-2004 financial year.

Queensland’s economy remains the strongest in the country with estimated growth of more than four percent in 2004-2005 nationally.

The aim of the Moreton Bay Region Export Awards is to identify and reward the most successful and innovative local exporters. The awards promote export heroes in their local region, there by stimulating greater involvement in exporting among Moreton Bay Region businesses.

The businesses participating in this year’s awards highlight the diversity of the export culture of Moreton Bay, as they represent the largest of manufacturers through to small business operations. An application for the 2005 Moreton Bay Region Export Awards will be regarded as an application for the prestigious 2005 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards.

Finalists and winners will be announced at the state awards ceremony hosted by the Premier Peter Beattie, Premier and Treasurer of Queensland at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in October.
